My elder brother who was 2 years older than me, and also a manga buff… (who would eventually go on to graduate and become a professional designer)He taught me how to compose the pages of manga… in a kids world, 2 years is a long time, and I found I could not compete with him in drawing manga.
Everyday in high school I had found myself drawing scribbles across my notebooks in school…I was so wrapped up in this I forgot to do homework, etc,
And I got a lot of heat from the teacher about this, but, I loved drawing so much I didn’t give a shit about it.
I found myself slowly morphing into a stereotypical bad boy image, but I still managed to retain my position as the top student in the class.
Probably I reckon I was good at memorizing text and information, and so I was able to get a firm grasp of knowledge the likes of which a lot of other kids couldn’t. as soon as I read these huge fat complex books that other kids weren’t I was digesting huge about of knowledge…
Most high school text books are really thin, but what I was reading were really complex and huge… Thank God and Thank manga!
