My encounter with manga 18

In junior high school, I was made to go see a guidance counselor to discuss my academic future after junior high…I said… I wanted to become a professional cartoonist (which you didn’t need qualifications for), and I didn’t give a shit about passing junior high!

As soon as I said that he slapped me face! … but I seriously meant what I said… in retrospect, I was determined to achieve my aim… when I was in 4th grade at elementary school… I couldn’t see myself doing any other job which I would really enjoy.

During this time my mother was working as a hostess.

Everyone…me, my big brother, and mother, and a totally different schedule, and so there was a big time gap between us… I would pretend to be asleep when my mother got back home from work, but really… I was drawn manga until dawn every single day.

Looking back, I think those days were the happiest moment in my entire life.

During this time I had just begun to enter adolescence…and I was exchanging love letters with my first girlfriend.
